San Francisco, California — Wednesday, April 9, 2003 — BenefitPoint, the employee benefits industry's leading web-based platform for client management and procurement, today announced an agreement with Health Net of California, one of the largest network-model health plans in the state, for use of the BenefitPoint platform to enhance its distribution strategy with top brokers and consultants who manage their clients on the platform.
This agreement makes Health Net a licensed BenefitPoint Premier Carrier Partner, effective March 1, 2003. As a Premier Carrier Partner, Health Net can effectively market and differentiate its products while conducting new and renewal business and develop stronger relationships with targeted brokers and consultants. In addition, Health Net can enhance its distribution methods through the use of BenefitPoint's Product Library and use web-based marketing tools for education on Health Net products. Health Net will tap BenefitPoint's generated data and analytics reports to improve the tracking and management of sales activities relative to its products. With its array of ancillary companies, Health Net also has an opportunity to cross-sell all product lines on the BenefitPoint platform.
"Health Net is always looking for innovative ways to strengthen its relationships with brokers and consultants and efficiently manage the process of renewing and writing new business," said Steve Van Wart, vice president of Sales for Health Net of California. "We found that BenefitPoint offers the rare blend of effective technology and supportive human capital we believe will help make a positive difference in our business."
"Health Net's adoption of the BenefitPoint utility brings increased value to the employee benefits industry," said John Randazzo, CEO of BenefitPoint. "Brokers, consultants and carriers throughout the country are choosing to leverage the BenefitPoint platform because we make it more efficient to buy, sell and manage benefits -- it's that simple."
BenefitPoint's latest product enhancements were designed with the direct guidance of carriers, brokers and consultants that serve on BenefitPoint's advisory boards. In 2002, the enhanced features of Release 9 broadened client management capabilities for brokers and consultants while streamlining RFP and renewal communications between brokers, consultants and carriers. BenefitPoint Release 10, due in April, provides the first industry application programming interfaces (APIs), enabling integration with carrier systems, a significant technological step for the employee benefits industry.
