San Francisco, CA — Wednesday, October 17, 2001 — BenefitPoint, Inc., the leading
eInfrastructure company for the distribution and management of employee benefits, today announced
the promotion of John Randazzo to president and chief executive officer. Randazzo succeeds Mark A.
Pulido, who will remain in a leadership position for BenefitPoint as chairman of the board.
After a rewarding career as chief executive officer of four corporations including BenefitPoint, McKesson
Corporation, Sandoz Pharmaceuticals Corporation and Redline Healthcare Corporation, Mark and his family
look forward to a semi-retired lifestyle and more time together as they relocate to San Diego.
"Mark has done an excellent job building the company and providing leadership to make BenefitPoint the
industry standard," said Samuel Colella, BenefitPoint board member and general partner of Institutional
Venture Partners.
"To ensure an orderly and smooth transition process, Mark has worked diligently with the board of directors
during the last five months on his successor and the addition of new board members," said Tom Stephenson,
BenefitPoint board member and general partner of Sequoia Capital.
An internal promotion, Randazzo has been at BenefitPoint for the past two years, working closely with
Pulido as executive vice president, focusing on strategy and insurance carrier operations. In years prior
to joining BenefitPoint, Randazzo demonstrated his capacity to serve as an excellent leader and industry
specialist. He was at Warburg & Pincus in its Private Equity Group, was president and chief executive
officer of Women's Health Connecticut, held the position of president and chief executive officer of
Value Oncology Science and was co-founder, chief executive officer and chief financial officer of
Managed Health Network, a behavioral health company now owned by Foundation Health. Randazzo was also
instrumental in the formation of Value Health Inc., handling acquisitions and product development.
"John brings extensive managed care expertise as well as continuity in leadership to BenefitPoint management.
We welcome his carrier expertise and overall business acumen as we accelerate our momentum forward," said
Stephenson.
"John's history of creating shareholder value and building great companies provides a consistency in our
strategy and leadership position," said Colella.
"I am delighted to accept this new responsibility with BenefitPoint and look forward to continuing our
leadership role in the employee benefits industry," said Randazzo, president and chief executive officer
of BenefitPoint.
